Ding to the Third Degree

A little while ago, around the time that the billionth person died (and released) in Naxx and had to run back and make us clear the slime room again, I decided to level my 70 warlock up to 80.

Last night, I hit the ding!  This makes my third level 80 character.

Questing in Zul'drak is what did it.  I really like the questlines in that place, between the Ebon Blade, Argent Crusade and the trolls.

Beside me you can see my levelling partner (who hit 80 a couple of hours later after a Gundrak run and another quest).  He also happens to be my lovely boyfriend who I met through WoW.  Maybe more on that at another time, it's all still pretty new.

Through the wonders of tailoring and jewelcrafting, I had made myself a handful of nice items so the moment I hit 80, I geared myself up.  The ebonweave gloves and robe look rather nice.

Here's how the warlock looks now.  Anyone who's read this blog for a little while or that looks through the older posts will notice that she's undergone some changes in hairstyle/colour and her piercings are different.

I am enjoying affliction, although there is a heck of a lot to keep track of.  I actually have DoT timer but I tend to just watch the Quartz bars instead.  I like the new summoning mechanic, even if it does look like a demon flasher but I hope they put single-target summoning back in as an option for spot-summons.  It's silly having to summon the stone for a 5-man group when only one person needs it.

Hoping to take Emelyn to Naxx tonight, watch this space.

The worst boss in Naxxaramas...

It's not Sapphriron.  It's not Kel'thuzad.  Nope.  It's not even frogger!

It's lag.

My raiding group started a 25-man Naxx last night.  We went in and started on spider wing with no problem, got to the Grand Widow and we had some lag issues but nothing too too bad.  The priest had a little trouble MC'ing the adds with his lag but we did it.   Maexxna - We had some lag issues but again, not so bad we couldn't do it.  It got a little hairy at times with spells taking too long and such.

On to finish the wing and then hit Patchwerk, who we've downed before.

WHAM.  Terrible, terrible lag.  My Quartz casting bars were virtually full red for latency.  DPS couldn't use special attacks, healers were just guessing as to when the tanks' health bars went down.  I just alternated between regrowth and nourish, and kept up a rotation of sorts.  We got him to 10% when he enraged.  I snuck back into a corner and shadowmelded.  We tried him again but it was the same thing, so we decided to call it a night.  The only times when the lag cleared up at all was when we had several people dead.

It was terrible!  According to the forums it's a known issue, so here's hoping it gets cleared up, because we're stuck until it does.

Am I a healing snob?

With my druid being 80 now, I've been working on gearing up.  I've done Naxx (25) once now and I'm down for 10-man on Thursday.  I'm well over the minimum gear requirements, so now it's tweaking and upgrading with shiny shiny purples.

I usually enjoy PUGing.  I like meeting new people and testing my skills.  However, today I joined a PUG and I left after the first wipe.  Why?

Point 1: Get to the stone with two other people and do my usual /inspect because I'm nosy.  DK with mostly greens.  Warrior with blues, but all the gem slots empty.  Uh oh.

Point 2: I finally get around to looking at who's in the group.  Two warriors, two DKs.  Uh oh.

Point 3: DKs disagree on who tanks.  One says "Frost DK should tank" and the other (unholy)disagrees.  Frost one ends up tanking, has a bunch of abilities bound to /say macros.  Spam ensues.  Uh oh.

Point 4: Almost die on trash because I get aggro and something runs up and whacks me in the face.

Point 5: Then we wipe because I get killed in the room with all the proto drakes (we're in Utgarde Keep).  Tank had been skipping a bunch of them.  Didn't see what happened as was too busy healing everyone, not sure if it was cone breath or aggro.

Made excuses, left before getting locked to it (daily heroic).

Was I too fast to leave?  Am I getting to be a healing snob?

When I hit 80, I did a round of CoS, UP, Occulus and got some gear, along with some reputation and AH stuff.  Only then did I start doing heroics.  I got enchants and gems, although I do have my own enchanter and jewelcrafter, so I admit it's easier than for some people.  I just think that not having at least the common gems in your gear is sheer laziness, as they aren't expensive and can just be grabbed from the AH.
