Name my Worgen Druid

| | Comments (2) | TrackBacks (0)
having waited 3 hours for the Priestly Cataclysm preview, with no love as yet, I have decided to put a call out to you all. I need a name for my future Worgen Druid. I was thinking of just going with a Victorian era name, but I suspect anything remotely decent is long since gone. So, I thought I would put it out there for the listeners. The name I choose, or the closest one to what I go with, will win an Authenticator and 5 bonus entries in the Retweet contest!

Here are the ground rules. It cannot be a reference to the Twilight series, it cannot be a reference to a cheesey 80's werewolf movie, and it has to follow RP naming rules and conventions. The name, or one similar to it, must be available to reserve on my home realm. There is no limit on entries, because it's not a /roll but a quality and suitability factor I am going on. I look foward to what some of you are able to come up with! Good luck!

Retweet Contest

| | Comments (0) | TrackBacks (3)
Hello everybody(hello Dr. N... err, nm)

We here at All Things Azeroth love to give stuff away, love the excitement of holding  contests, and so therefore, guess what? We have another contest. Running from today,  the 15th of March, until the 15th of April, we are doing a Retweet contest. Several  times a day, we will send out a tweet on the official @allthingsaz twitter account  for the show. If you retweet it, the original message not the retweet of someone else, you get entered into the draw. The format of the retweet should be "RT @allthingsaz" followed by the message you are retweeting including the hashtag #ATART2win.

You can enter once per day, and each day a person will get the chance to 'double up' so to speak and get double the entries. The way this works is that they will have 85 minutes from the time they are tweeted about to reply to the very simple trivia question posed to them. If they get the question right, they will get an extra entry for the day, if not, they stay at their 1 entries. If they fail to answer right, or in time, the question will go out for the steal to the public audience. The "Double Upper" can be any time in the day, so stay tuned to the twitter account, and you must have entered during the day it is for in order to win it!

In order to participate, you must follow the All Things Azeroth twitter account from the time you first retweet, until the end of the contest. If you unfollow, your previous entries will be marked invalid. Don't worry, there won't be too many updates. The winners will be contacted to give an opportunity to accept their prize on the show via a call on Skype either pre recorded, or live on the show. The winners will be announced on the 190th episode of All Things Azeroth recorded on April 19th.

Now, for the prizes! The first prize will be
  • a Gryphon or Wind Rider plushie
  • a Murloc plushie
  • an authenticator
  • a copy of the Stormrage novel, written by Richard Knaak(courtesy listener Sayomara)
  • 2 months of game time
  • a Gryphon pet code courtesy Lou Gagliardi
  • a Charge of the Dragon Flights Epic Stein courtesy of Taverncraft
The second place prize will be
  • a murloc plushie
  • an authenticator
  • a $30 USD gift code for Amazon courtesy listener Hasteur
  • a $15 Jinx gift code
  • 1 month of WoW Game Time

I want to thank everyone for listening, for joining us in the live show, and for supporting All Things Azeroth, Your World of Warcraft podcast.

[Update 2: Thanks to Sayomara, we have now 2 months of WoW game time for prize package #1, and a Horde license plate frame for prize #2! Thank you for your generosity]

[Update: The first prize got a Gryphon pet code from the plushie Lou Gagliardi won, and the Second prize got an addition in the form of a $30 gift code for Amazon to buy the Warcraft Archive and such thanks to Hasteur!]

On last week's episode of All Things Azeroth we launched the next All Things Azeroth contest, the NaPodPoMo Content Contest, where you send us voicemail, email, or pre recorded mp3s, and you get played on our feedback shows in November, and entered into the contest to win some fabulous prizes. Rise of the Lich King Epic SteinWell, we are happy to reveal an additional prize that has been added to the Grand Prize package, courtesy of the great folks at Taverncraft. The prize is a Rise of the Lich King epic collection stein, with a Panoramic image of the Lich King and his undead minions and incredible artwork by painter extraordinaire Alex Horley. This stein is Superior quality fine-grain stoneware with a solid pewter sculpted lid. Just looking at the creation process on the Taverncraft website you can see these are painstakingly made, and are of the highest quality.

Rise of the Lich King Epic SteinComing in at 10 inches tall and an incredible 3 pounds, that alone would make this mug stand out on your shelf, but when you add in the carved texture, and the amazing artwork it becomes obvious this doesn't belong on some shelf, but in a prime place in your collection. While the artwork on the stein itself is definitely worth some attention, the lid itself is a work of art. With intricate Dwarven runes, a blade skewering the northern part of the world, and some very detailed Pewter sculpting, from top to bottom this is something any WoW Collector would cherish and desire. The best part? You can win one in our contest! Get your entries in starting October 26th, and tune in the entire month of November to hear the National Podcast Post Month!
It's been a lot of planning and work, but I am happy today to be announcing the 2009 All Things Azeroth NaPodPoMo Content Contest. The idea if if you leave us a voice mail, send us an audio content file for playing on the show, or send us an email between October 26th and November 26th, you will get your content played on the weekly feedback shows we will be doing during the National Podcast Post Month, and an entry in the contest. On each feedback episode, the feedback of the show, a highlighted piece of feedback, will get an extra 5 entries into the contest. The winner of the contest will be announced on the show release on November 30th, not the weekly show recorded that day.

What will you win? Well, here is the first prize package:

The second prize pack is no less impressive, with:
  • Curse Premium Subscription
  • USB Key
  • Authenticator
  • 1 print of your choice from the store of Blizzard award Winning artist Cadistra, of WoW Eh?

I want to thank Curse.com, FigurePrints.com, Jinx.com, and WoWeh.com for the awesome prize donations! I will keep adding whenever I find new companies willing to add to the list of prizes in this contest, right up until the end of the contest. See you in November!

State of the Show

I always hate having to make these posts, because they usually follow bad stuff coming down the pike. This time I wanted to address a few things, some good, some bad. First, as you all know, earlier this morning, and I do emphasize early, All Things Azeroth 133 was released. Recorded on Monday, August 14th, the show was released a week later than I prefer to see the shows released after recording. This is due to a Garage Band bug that has cropped up a few times on Graece's Mac, and unfortunately I was not able to devote the time to editing the show myself until Tuesday.

I would like to say that such a delay between recording and editing won't happen again, but I won't lie to you, friends. I do not know what causes this to happen to Garage Band, and I don't have the resources to contact Apple with the needed info to have them answer with possible solutions and fixes. I do, though, want to move on, and try to avoid this becoming a week long problem in the future. This is part of the reason I am making this post.

The front page of ATA has, for a long time, been a once a week virtual ghost town. I want to change that. I am therefore putting a request out there for 3 people to be added to the 'staff' at All Things Azeroth. First, I want an audio editor. This person would, at first, be a back up for Graece's efforts to bring the show out. The person would need knowledge of editing Double Enders together, and be able to devote the time needed to bring the show out with equal or better quality to what we have now. Second and third, I want to bring on some bloggers. These people would be responsible for 2-3 posts a week, length not dictated, just that they be quality posts that can bring readers to the site.

While all three of these would be unpaid posts with the show, you would, as a person filling these posts, share in the ad money when money is paid out. Recently Graece and I both got new mics due to the advertising on the show, and I strongly feel that if we can tighten up in these two areas, bringing the show out better and sooner, and adding compelling content to the front of the site, that this will result in more listeners, and more listeners results in more ad revenue. Other shows have their publishing within a day or two, if not hours of the show's release. I am not sure we can meet the latter option, not without more time in the day, but I think we can definitely do the former with the right team. Join us?

Now to the rest of the update. As many in the live show on the 21st know already, and many of you will hear soon enough, the new mics have arrived for both me and Graece. Hers is a headset, taking the audio off her Mac, and mine is a Blue Snowball Condenser Mic which I bought from Stompalina at Rawrcast. Even in editing my side of the show this week, I was able to tell that the new mic is totally awesome. It picks up more of what I want it to get, my voice and the passion in it, and less of the stuff that has been frustrating me, the background noise in the 'studio' here. I fully intend to make this show totally awesome in sound, and am even considering buying one of these Mic's for Graece, if she would have it.

In November we have the National Podcast Post Month, were we release 1 episode per day for the entire month. We are accepting ideas, suggestions, and thoughts on what you would like to hear. Last year we did the lead up to, and fall out from the launch of Wrath of the Lich King, which was released partway through the month. It was an exciting and energizing time, and led to some of the content we have done on the show in the 10 months since. We have lots of plans to execute for the NaPodPoMo this month, and I want to share a bit with you.

First, we will have a month long contest on the show which we will announce on Graece's 1 year anniversary show in a couple weeks. Second, we have a lot of 'weekly' releases planned for the NaPodPoMo, or AzPod show, including weekly interviews, music shows, and discussions about the highlights, and little mentioned features of the recently announced Cataclysm expansion. We might look at how professions have changed, maybe look over some of the zones we know will change and what we will miss about them, anything is possible and we will have 30 days to fill! Of course, we will still do our weekly episodes on Monday nights, with a plan to release them for the Thursdays. Stay tuned!

The last thing I wanted to mention is the little thing that you see in the top right hand corner of the site. Thanks to Shawno of the Hypernonsense podcast, who's wife Jen(no, not Jena) is our weekly moderator in the live chats(awesome job, Jen!) we now have a voicemail line. 1-785-ATA-WoW-5, or 1-785-282-9695 is the number ot leave us a voicemail for the show, and if it's good, it will get played. If you leave an email saying anything rude or derogatory, you will be blacklisted, and will waste your money. Call it, give us your thoughts, and hear yourself on the show!

That is about it for this novel of an update. I hope to hear from the bloggers and audiophiles out there, and I also hope to hear from all of you by email, voicemail, or even carrier pigeon! Take care, happy hunting, See you in... well... November to Remember!

All Things Azeroth covers Blizzcon

| | Comments (1) | TrackBacks (0)
Today we are merely 2 days from the start of Blizzcon, the show celebrating all properties in the Blizzard Entertainment empire. Blizzard on Tuesday released the schedule for the show, then pulled it back, and released a new schedule. We are pretty sure the second one is official and final one, and we here at All Things Azeroth are prepared to give you, the listeners, our official Blizzcon live show broadcast schedule for the 2 days of the conference. We have looked and cross checked the schedule to ensure our coverage of the show is as in depth and non conflicting as we can.

First, we will be doing 3 shows over the 2 day event. First we will do a live show covering the opening ceremony, which is now reduced to 30 minutes. We hope to cover all the stuff we expect in the opening in less than the time it is scheduled for, but no guarantees. Second, we will do a show on Friday night, just after the start of the costume contest, in which we will cover the hottest news released on day 1, including, we suspect, WoW Cataclysm and MMO Champion being right. Then, between the Live Raid panel and the music show, we will do the third show, covering the highlights of Day 2, and the biggest stories of the con.

In addition to this, while I am watching the videos on the Blizzcon Live Feed, be they on demand or actually live, I will be live blogging what I see. You can find the live blog we will be doing here, with live blogging services thanks to CoverItLive. I may take breaks here or there, but if there is a panel I am not interested in, I will go back and listen to panels I missed, plus there looks to be 30 minutes planned between panels for those us who need breaks. I will try to be on Stickam during these live blogging sessions, but no promises.

Finally, as we wrap up our coverage, we will of course be doing the usual Monday night show, where the biggest topics will be the news out of Anaheim, and the winners of the Linking contest. You will be able to join Bacoes(Graece) and Orrgithar(Medros) live in Ogrimmar on Echo Isles as we do /roll for the winner, and the runner up prizes, which can be found here. Get your entry emails in now, and maybe we will hit a plateau and I will add in even more prizes!

We will see you Friday, Saturday, and Monday for All Things Azeroth, Your World of Warcraft Podcast!

All Things Azeroth all over the place

| | Comments (0) | TrackBacks (0)
This past week has been a pretty huge one, and the week coming up is expected to be an even bigger one! Not only did we release both episodes 125 and 126 this week of ATA, totaling over 2 hours of audio talking about the hottest topics in the community, but I was on the Pixelated Podcast this Sunday, talking Blizzcon and.. ummm... other stuff, and of course promoting this here show. You should definitely take a listen, and thank Nelson for having me on his show again.

In addition to that guest appearance, Graece and I recorded a short version of ATA for the Tech Podcast Network weekly show. Be warned, this is a very spoiler heavy show, as we talk about the leaked Cataclysm information that came out just after we recorded the show on Thursday. If you want to hear our thoughts in a short under 15 minute episode of ATA, check it out and be sure to Tweet, Facebook, and link it anywhere, and everywhere you can. I will even make a concession and let you all count those links for the linking contest, so be sure to send in an email about your link to the proper address!

As for the upcoming week, it is going to be Crazy! We don't yet know the Blizzcon schedule, and we don't have a full run down of the goody bag, but be sure that live.allthingsazeroth.com WILL be the place to catch our coverage of the show. When I am home and tuned into the stream, I may just be streaming live, but we will definitely have an opening ceremony show, a Friday end of day show, and a Saturday end of day show. The rest, as they say, is gravy! See ya there.

-Medros
